Plasmaleap has found a solution to unpredictable global supply chains in a highly unlikely place: the sun and the stars.
Harnessing the immense power of plasma, the fourth state of matter, they help businesses produce the fertilisers, fuels and chemicals they need locally, free from volatile markets and ever-fluctuating prices. It’s no understatement to say that this technology could help rewire the world.
Their leadership team approached us to unpack the high-level value of this intricate technology, so it would appeal to Series B investors and customers alike. To do that, we needed to apply the art of branding to the complex (and fascinating) science of plasma.
Given the lack of shipping miles and the renewable inputs required (air, water, electricity), Plasmaleap had previously positioned their business along the lines of sustainability. But our competitive audit revealed that this was a fairly ubiquitous approach in the category, and a number of other technology providers had already adopted a similar stance, reducing the impact of this proposition.
Our social listening, trend analysis and media monitoring uncovered a far more emotive opportunity: developments like the Iran Conflict, the Russo-Ukrainian War and growing protectionism were fragmenting international supply chains, causing concern among businesses about the price and availability of the chemicals they relied on every day.
In a climate of increasing uncertainty, insecurity and instability, Plasmaleap could provide a much-coveted thing: control.
We tailored Plasmaleap’s pitch to businesses’ needs, while demonstrating to investors that the technology could solve a significant problem in the market:
At the forefront of this was the idea of “Real Access, Real Power”, showing how they businesses more control over the cost, availability and emissions of the chemicals they need. To unpack this idea, we developed a compelling manifesto, articulating how a simple innovation in plasma usage allows you to deploy chemical reactors locally and easily, reducing reliance on centralised global chemical producers, no matter the location.
With the north star of the business clearly defined, our design team ensured that it shone through every aspect of the brand:
A Lean Logo
We designed a tech-infused, space age wordmark that spoke to the highly sophisticated chemistry underpinning their product. It’s punctuated with a sharp spark, a symbol of the plasma reaction and the localised power it gives customers.
Vibrant Layouts
Against a concerned global backdrop, we helped Plasmaleap strike a more optimistic tone. Bright white and light pink layouts communicated a sense of optimism and freedom from unexpected resource setbacks.
Tangible Imagery
We made their abstract technology simple and tangible. We demonstrated how the Plasmaleap was deployed, where it could be used, and how it was transported, answering clients’ many practical questions about this new and unknown innovation.
Trust Signals
To interest investors, we made Plasmaleap look like the mature, credible platform technology they are. The updated website featured real case studies, impressive founder credentials, a wealth of academic research, industry-leading awards and high-profile media coverage.
The result: a compelling story for a complex technology.
